Yupppp... it's been awhile since i last sketch someone's portrait.... & i think it must be in 1998 while i was still in college.... hahahahaha... cool ainnit? i can still sketch... not as good as i want it to be.... but did it nevertheless..... i wanna sketch more & will dedicate a scrapbook of sketches in my blog soon.

REBRANDING K'ry version 2.0

It's almost year end & 2011 has been a painful yet exhilarating roller coaster ride!!! I'm pleased to announce that i will now dedicate this blog solely & selfishly on me only.... or my POV on things in random & not just politics. Too much politics gives me unnecessary stress & i'm not even involve in any political party. Therefore... i will continue to sit on the fence, well.. abit one sided i must say.... but on a fence nevertheless.

ok nuff said.... It's time to REBRAND K'ry 2.0.... & welcome to my life!!! 2012 here i come!!!

1 Malaysia wedding (part 2)

There were only 3 of us there who are not of the christian faith & we were asked questions like..."Does your religion allows you to be in a church? Does the mosque allow us to be in there during the akad nikah ceremony?"

Questions like this, after over 50 years of independence shouldn't be asked but should already know the answers.

Jadi saya menjawab, "Saya di church ini semata2 ingin menyaksikan perlangsungan rakan baik saya & saya dijemput. Tentang agama/bangsa lain berada di dalam masjid tidak menjadi masalah. Yang wajib adalah peradaban berpakaian, itu sahaja".

Ada juga diantara golongan muslim kita sindirkan saya bahawa adalah tak elok utk seorang muslim utk pergi ke gereja. Bagi saya Islam sentiasa di dalam hati, tak kisah dimana kita berada. Bagaimanakah pula jika kita seorang yg muslim berada di negara yg mempunyai ratio islam yg rendah seperti di Brazil, Angola, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Denmark...etc.

Abang saya akan melangsungkan pernikahannya minggu depan & majlis bertandang di kediaman kami bertemakan "bollywood". Belum apa2 hal dah ada org menyindir bahawa ia tidak "kena" & "bukan adat kita". Adat bersanding kita & juga hantaran2 ni pun sebenarnye dari adat org india. Diorang ni tahu tak? Ni bukan majlis pernikahan. Lagipun tema hanyalah dalam segi persediaan, dekorasi, pakaian & juga irama2 yg akan berkumandang semasa majlis keramaian ini. Nak buat camne? Pengantin suka bollywood maaa.....

Jadi... saya ingin utarakan disini bahawa, jika kita ingin memperjuangkan konsep 1Malaysia, ini adalah satu dari caranya. Malaysia kaya dengan adat & budaya, apa salahnya jika majlis perkahwinan melayu beradat india, cina beradat melayu, india beradat cina? Janji, syaratnya perlangsungan pernikahan sah masing2 mengikut agama masing2.

Let this be a starting trend of 1Malaysia wedding. ;-)

p/s: ...& we can prove the priest wrong on his sermons abt 1Malaysia too.

I want to share my recent experience witnessing a friend's wedding in a church last friday morning.

Saya dijemput sebagai kawan rapat kepada rakan saya (the groom) ni yg beragama catholic-kristian berbangsa serani. Dan dia berkahwin dgn seorang protestant-kristian berbangsa cina.

Jadi, mengikut tradisi cina, sebelum pergi ke church, saya dan 7 lagi rakan-rakan rapat (entourage or heng tai) kepada pengantin lelaki ni pun pergilah ke rumah si bakal pengantin perempuan ni di kediamannya & permainan perkahwinan cina pun dilangsungkan. Mmg syok & kelakar. Bole di kira 1 Malaysia la jugak kita ni... sebab diantara "heng-tai" ni semua...berbilang bangsa & agama. Ok... nak pendek kan cerita... lepas tu saya dijemput ke church utk majlis perlangsungan perkahwinan mereka ni. Mula2 saya was-was la jugak nak masuk church ni... sebab saya tak tahu apa hukumnya seorang muslim pergi ke church? Tetapi hati saya cekal, niat saya ke church ni semata2 utk menemani & saksikan perkahwinan kawan baik saya ini... itu saja.

Apa yg saya sedih & kesal... apabila "priest" ni sempat KUTUK Perdana Menteri kita, konsep 1Malaysia kita & juga berucap tentang pentingnya utk mereka terus menggunakan terma "ALLAH" sebagai tuhan mereka di dalam penterjemahan mereka. Terdapat juga sorakkan semasa Priest ni berucap sedemikian. Terkejut saya, bahawa di church pun mereka Berpolitik?!?!

Priest ni pun tak habis2 sindir bahawa konsep 1 Malaysia ni hanya penyedap mulut & hanya impian yg takkan jadi kenyataan selagi ketidak sama-rataan & dia berulang2 kali menyebut "FAVOURITISM" of race & religion kat malaysia ni. Para hadirin pun bersorak. Dalam hati saya... "apa kena mengena semua ni dgn perkahwinan kawan saya ni?"

Rupanya, dia nak mengatakan bahawa perkahwinan ni adalah perkahwinan sejati konsep 1M iaitu 1 Marriage.... dia nak mengatakan unity thru 1 Malaysia will fail... but unity in marriage will outlast thru thick & thin. Dia nak mengatakan bahawa pentingnya the unison of marriage TAPI..... di masa yg sama... HENTAM konsep 1 malaysia....

bagi saya lah.... macam haraaaaammmmmmmm.... & naik jugak darah saya masa dlm church tu. Saya dok beristighfar banyak2 dlm church tu & tenangkan hati saya. Ikut hati saya dah bangun & angkat kaki belah dahhhhhh... tpai dok pikir kawan baik saya je saya stay kat church tu.

Ni je saya nak cerita...... org dok cerita jgn politik di masjid.... tapi sapa tahu? kat church pun ada? semakin ramai musuh2 kita ni. We have to be extra vigilant nowadays... wahai saudara2 seperjuangan.... at the same time...we can continue the concept of 1Malaysia... which i strongly support!

Salah satu daripadanya is thru marriages ni. Let's expose ourself to other religion & race's tradition. Jgn biar ada konsep "kuno" yg mengatakan... "ehhhh kita org islam... mana bole masuk church/kuil"....or "kita org islam.... mana bole kawin bertemakan bollywood".... hehehe..... ni semua gara2 sindiran daripada saudara-mara saya..... bila diorang dpt tahu saya pergi church & pabila kawin abang saya di tengah bulan ni bertemakan hindustan. Saya jawab.... "cakap la apa nak dicakapkan, semasa perang salib... byk juga gereja dijadikan masjid. Saya tak lupakan Tuhan saya & agama saya. Lagipun adat perkahwinan melayu di pun byk berunsur & influence dari india.... lagi2 pasal hantaran (dowry) & persandingan".

Adoiii... what a weekend.....

Jelas sekali, anasir-anasir ini tidak menghormati asas dan prinsip perlembagaan negara Malaysia, tiada rasa cinta kepada tanah air dan juga menonjolkan penulisan hasutan yang mencetuskan sentimen perkauman yang begitu ketara sekali. Secara lantangnya, anasir subversif ini mempertikaikan segala unsur yang melambangkan kedaulatan dan intipati negara kita tercinta.

Kami menyeru agar gejala Sekolah Vernakular ini di hapuskan secara total.

Pupils must be free to pick up third language - Prof Khoo Kay Kim's respond to The Star's article.

SINCE your paper has given me some attention in the last few days, I hope you can spare some space for me to correct and to clarify.

Malaysia is a plural society, more complex than many other plural societies in the world and we have branded ourselves as “truly Asia”.

Ever since the initial attempts made to turn the country into a nation-state way back in the late 40s, it was thought urgent that the country ought to have a single system of education to integrate the people.

The importance of integration via education was also stated in the Razak Report of 1956.

Singapore does not have vernacular schools.

But while the medium of instruction in all its schools is English, every pupil must also study his/her own ethnic language.

In Malaysia’s case, since the time the British planned the establishment of a nation-state, it was recommended that, given the country’s unique society, the young generation should be made to acquire three languages: a national language, an international language and the pupil’s own ethnic language.

When interviewed, I had voiced my support for what was recommended more than 50 years ago, and I specifically said that “Singapore’s model should be adopted” but allowing more flexibility.

The pupils should be free to pick a third language.

But the state cannot be expected to make so many languages available in school, which would have to be the case in Malaysia if the third language must be the mother tongue.

In the case of Malaysia, primarily from a pragmatic point of view, three languages stand out: a language from East Asia – Chinese; a language from South Asia – Tamil; and a language from West Asia – Arabic, which is also the language of Islam.

How could I have said that the non-Malays in Malaysia must forget their ethnic languages when their languages are among the most important in the world and English is the leading international language?

Our leaders in the past did not successfully solve the language problem in this country.

As such, it has become from time to time a bone of contention. This cannot go on if the country is to progress and maintain stability.

There is somehow a misapprehension that I am quite ignorant of the Chinese perception of things cultural and historical.

Far from it, I am more knowledgeable than the average Chinese here because I have studied them.

Too many Malaysians, I am afraid, are prone to draw conclusions based on vague impressions. They (this includes the highly educated) are inclined to be ruled by emotion rather than the intellect.

Some of the problems being debated by our politicians date back to the days when ethnic representation to official bodies was introduced for the first time after World War I. They have been left unsolved till now.

Malaysia's education system polarises?

I suggest we have one school system but make the language studies compulsary for the relevant races & open to the malays as well as part of they syllabus. If indians & chinese can learn malay language...why can the malays? right? I am no racist nor am i an ultra malay... but if we teach our children at the early age to be within your own race... then there goes the concept oh muhibbah!

if u notice, most of the time in tertiary education is where all the race are more closer with each other. U will see more harmony in colleges & universities but u wont see this kinda unity in primary/secondary schools. Why do we teach our 5-6 year old to the polarization of race? Our Education system should be responsible for this & only by tackling this issue from the root up... is how the future of Malaysians to be united will be met! Im not sure if this is part of the "social contract" btw

cultures are never taught in school..period! It is based on traditions... generations.... open up your mind la dr. aramugam!!! dont feed us with your own idealism. I'm a big fan of Prof. Khoo Kay Kim's works & books. Your wisdom should be used more to shed some lights to all malaysian!!!! god bless u!

bangsa malaysia?

Tell me, when did this bangsa malaysia started anyway? How can u sat we forgot we are bangsa malaysia 1st & then our inherit race as second?

no matter what we say, we can't contradict the laws of nature. It is god's way & creation of this world. Why people in the west has white skin, blonde hair & blue eyes? Why does their tongue speaks words we don't understand? Why doesn't malays understand cantonese or tamil? It is all up to us to help, work, love & live with each other in harmony. It is not just a task for a country but ourselves. It should be mutual. We never had any strong sense of racial divide until Anwar Ibrahim came into the picture.

Ironically there is some truth in what saudara Abdullah Harahan mentioned about Malaysia's continuing the left-overs of the UK system. Not to say it is bad but the Divide & Conquer element has to stop!!! Racial Polarization has to stop from the root which is EDUCATION!!!

if we want BANGSA MALAYSIA...then it should be SATU BAHASA SATU BANGSA! no point of calling for fairness for all race but the malays are at the losing end. BM is for all & English is for the whole world but when it comes to tamil & chinese language... the malays will be at lost. But other races says that malays has too many privileges & u want the malays to sacrifice that for the sake of fairness but the tamils & chinese cant even sacrifice their language?

All the world should live & learn about is to be sensitive when it comes to religion. To some religion is law, to others... its a way of life... to few... its just a reason to believe in that contradicts the world of science.... & there are also those that doesn't care less about religion.

How could someone even thought of defending the Israeli Regime over the atrocities towards the palestinian refugees? Whoever said that by defending the Palestinians means we support Hamas or Fatah or whatever terrorist there is. Dont' forget... when it comes to terrorism.. why do "people" mentioned "Muslim Terrorist"? Why do they use religious connotations? Don't y'all think we don't have feelings? I disagree in this statement........
